Cereus repandus monstrose cristate "Camelot"

One of the furrier ones, almost pettable
Native to Venezuela Cereus repandus is another large columnar that gets over 30 feet tall. Yet another night bloomer it gets 6 inch wide white flowers with pink tipped petals.
I don't have any normal C. Repandus so this page wil showcase my crested specimens instead. Cereus "Camelot", with it's copper spined bumps and whorls is a fascinating cultivated cactus. Both cristate and monstrose, the growth forms an infinite variety of complicated shapes. I have several of these and they are very variable. This one has many soft spines whereas another I have has sparser stiffer gold spines and it's more compact. I'm going to try planting some of this in the yard this year and see how it does. I saw a specimen in a large pot once that was a mound about 2 feet tall and 3 feet wide. Very cool!

The more compact gold spined version
