Found in New Mexico, Texas and northeastern Mexico, Coryphantha macromeris ssp macromeris is a long tuberculed cactus to 8 inches tall and 3 inches around. It offsets heavily and the offsets sometimes have the strange habit of appearing in the space between tubercules as well as along the sides of the plant as is characteristic in many Coryphanthas. It has very long blackish brown spines that turn white with age. Mature plants produce gorgeous 2 inch pink flowers in summer.
