Echinocereus nicholii
"Golden Hedgehog"

Found in southern Arizona and Northern Mexico (Sierra del Viejo). Echinocereus nicholii is a clumping cylindrical cactus to 24 inches tall. It clumps readily and forms and impressive patch of 20 stems or more. Its flowers vary from a bright magenta to a paler pink and are produced in spring.
I got an offset of this from a friend who works at an Apartment complex where it's growing. I'm hoping it's one of those with the bright flowers, my friend couldn't recall what the flowers looked like. Below is a small clump at the Desert Museum in Tucson.
