Echinocereus reichenbachii

Found across most of the southwestern United States and Northern Mexico, Echinocereus reichenbachii and it's varieties and subspecies are short, columnar, solitary or slowly clumping plants with beautiful spination and flowers. Stems range from 3 to 8 inches tall and 2 inches around. Var. albispina with pure white spines, produces paler pink flowers while other varieties can be bright magenta. Var. bailey has brownish spines at first that later turn white.
This came from Bachs and unfortunately had allready flowered. I'll be looking forward to some flowers in spring of 2007.
Update May 2007. A single flower. I'm not sure of the variety I have above. I thought it was albispina but the flower is too bright a pink. The last two pictures are a tiny offset of bailey I got in a trade.
