Echinocereus scheeri
ssp. gentryi

From northern Mexico, Echinocereus scheeri ssp. gentryi is a clumping columnar cactus to 28 inches tall and an a mere inch and a half thick. It's spination is very variable. The one above is nearly spineless. Pink flowers are produced in spring.
This came from Tohono Chul. It had turned a beautifull purple in the sun and I'm raising it in direct sun for that reason.
