Echinocereus viridiflorus var. canus
"Greybeard Cactus"

One in my collection

Native to southern Texas, and undescribed until 2004, Echinocereus viridiflorus var. canus is a beautifully spined clumping cactus. The long white spines are tipped in red and turn grey as the plant grows, hence the name "Greybeard Cactus". Large showy yellow flowers appear in spring.
