Epithelantha micromeris
ssp. polycephala

My little fuzzy troll :-)

From the Mexican side of the border, Epithelantha micromeris ssp. polycephala is a little different from the type species. Unlike E. micromeris it grows to about 3 inches tall, offsetting from the sides of the plant rather than the base. It also has a considerable amount of wool at the crown. Aside from that everything else is similar.
I never even knew these existed till I saw one at Miles2go. When I first saw it it had just the two little offsets at the top and the larger one in the middle looking like like the eyes and nose of a fuzzy white troll. Other offsets have grown since so the effect was lost but needless to say I couldn't resist bringing this one home :-)

Update June 27th 2006, little tiny flowers only a 1/4 inch across! And then more in mid July.
