Escobaria alversonii "Cushion Foxtail Cactus"

Native to southeastern California and southwestern Arizona, Escobaria alversonii is a globose to cylindrical cactus to 2 inches in diameter and 8 inches tall. It's beautiful pink flowers appear in early summer, the green flower buds hiding the treat to follow.
This came from Bachs Cactus Nursery labled Neobesseya species. Neobesseya has been merged with Escobaria and E. alversonii looked to be the closest match. However this plant has been grown lush and only the spination and flowers really resemble the pictures I've seen. The plant should be more compact.
