Ferocactus macrodiscus
"Biznaga de Dulce"

Found in the Mexican states of Guanajuato, San Luis Potosi, and Oaxaca, Ferocactus macrodiscus is a magnificently spined and ribbed barrel cacti to 20 inches across. It flowers in spring through summer, and as you can see from the pic below they are a lovely candy stripe pink. The picture below was taken by Geoff Stein who has graciously allowed me to use his pics on my site. Thanks Geoff! Click HERE for a gallery of more of Geoffs pictures.
This one came from a local Home Depot in January 2007. It's about 4 inches across so probably not quite flowering size. I'll find a suitable place for it in my garden next spring.
