Gymnocalycium bruchii

Found in the mountains of the province of Córdoba, Argentina, Gymnocalycium bruchii is a diminutive clustering cactus with heads typically only an inch and a half across. In time the plant forms a low growing mound and it is reported to be fairly cold hardy. Pale pink flowers up to 2.5 inches across normally appear in spring. But greenhoused in Arizona they can flower much earlier.
I got this from B&B Cactus farm. Sadly I lost one to rot that I had gotten from my friend Yasir in Pakistan. I'm going to be more carefull with this one and took all the offsets for insurance. Since it offsets freely, I'm sure I'll have plenty to trade in the future. It flowered for me in early February 2007. With the first two pictures there wasn't quite enough light for good focus. I did better a few days later.
