From Córdoba Argentina, Gymnocalycium hossei is a magnificently spined flattened globular cactus that can grow to 6 inches across. This one turns a deep brown over winter in my greenhouse. I love the way the spines seem to almost encage the brown body, it looks like some sort of sculpture in chocolate. It gave me this single flower in June.
