Harrisia martinii

Found in the Gran Chaco region of Argentina, Harrissia martinii is a sprawling, branching climber with stems up to an inch thick. It normally climbs up through other plants and in this way can achieve a height of several meters. It's white nocturnal flowers are huge and quite beautiful.
Xenomorf, a fellow member of the Davesgarden.com gardening forums, sent me a huge piece of this. I took the tip and several sections of stem and I'm rooting them. And I planted the base under a tree in my backyard, the idea being that I would train it up into the branches of the tree. Needless to say I don't have anything photo worthy yet, but Xeno lets me use his pictures on the site. Thanks, Xeno :-) So for now this page is all his. Also check out the gallery of Xenomorphs pictures in the Galleries/Friends section.
