Mammillaria grahamii "Fish Hook Cactus"

Ranging from California to Texas and northern Mexico, Mammillaria grahamii is a clumping globular to cylindrical cactus with stems to 2-1/2 inches around and 6 inches high. It's purplish pink flowers appear in late spring and summer.      Got this one from a landscaper friend of mine. It was scrunched up like an accordion. I said "It's dead!", he said "You'll see". So I potted it up and watered it a little now and then and sure enough it came right back and even flowered for me! Since then I've planted it in the ground right where you see it. The pictures below were taken in June 2006. They are much better than the year before, at least they're open all the way.
