Mammillaria magnimamma

From the states of Hidalgo, Zacatecas and the Federal District of Mexico, Mammillaria magnimamma is a solitary or clumping spherical cactus to 5 inches around. It's highly variable in both spine length and the color of the flowers. I have two of them, this one with shorter spines and cream colored flowers and another with very long spines and purple flowers. The long spined from is sometimes called "Macracantha"
I loved this cactus for the way the spines spiral. Nice flowers too.
