Mammillaria microhelia

From Qeueretaro Mexico, Mammillaria microhelia is a beautifully spined globular to slightly columnar cactus that gets 6 inches tall and 2 inches around. In late winter and early spring it gets yellow, cream, pink or purple flowers. Apparently a variable species, I have both this gold spined one and one that's gold and black spined.
I was at Home Depot one day when I spotted this two headed monster. I went quickly to the register chanting like the seagulls in "Finding Nemo", mine, mine, mine :-) I've never seen one of these split dichotomously before. I beleive it to be rare. And then when it flowered for me I was tickled pink. Altogether a very nice add to my collection. The second picture is after a seasons growth, fall 2006.
