Mammillaria spinosissima
"Red Headed Irishman"

Found in the states of Morelos and Guerrero, Mexico, Mammillaria spinosissima is a gorgeous ornamental cacti that grows to a height of 12 inches and gets 4 inches around. With it's copper colored spines it's easy to see how it got it's common name. Here it is adorned in magenta flowers in late winter.
I've got two of these and I think I'll get one or two more and plant them in the garden as a group. They also look nice in a container garden. The picture below is a nice group of them in a pot at Bachs Cactus Nursery.
