Matucana aureiflora



     From Camajarca, Peru, Matucana aureiflora is a nicely spined globular cactus to 4 inches high and 5 inches across. It produces it's golden yellow flowers in several flushes through the summer.
     Got the one above from B&B Cactus Farm at first thinking it was some sort of Gymnocalycium. Then they identified it for me. Hopefully it grows as nicely as the one below. I have to thank Geoff Stein, a fellow member of the Davesgarden.com gardening forums for the pics below. He is graciously letting me use them. Thanks Goeff!
