Opuntia aciculata "Chenille Prickly Pear"

Native to Texas and northern Mexico, Opuntia aciculata is a wickedly spined cacti that forms patches 3 feet high and several feet across. It's named Chenille Prickly Pear for the fringe of spines around the edge of the pad. In spring and early summer it produces it's reddish orange flowers in profusion.
This was a cutting I got from a friend. I'll find a suitable spot in the yard for it next spring. The flower pics are of a patch of it growing along side a sidewalk near Bobb Dobbs Saloon in Tucson.
