Opuntia gosseliniana

An Opuntia gosseliniana in my yard, blooming in April

Native to southern Arizona and New Mexico, Opuntia gosseliniana is one of the prettiest of the Prickly Pears. Its pads are often a beautiful blue and with stress due to cold or lack of water they can turn reddish purple. The new growth also has a purplish tint. The plant can get up to 6 feet tall and across with pads as long as 12 inches. Yellow flowers sometimes cover the plant in April and May.
I planted this one from a cutting about ten years ago. It's gotten way too big and will have to come out. I'll take plenty of cuttings though and restart it elsewhere.
