Parodia turecekiana

Found in Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil, Parodia turecekiana is an interestingly spined globular cacti to 4 inches around. It is closely related to Parodia mammulossa and the resemblance is clear. The biggest difference is Parodia turecekiana has longer spines and they are flexible, almost papery. The flowers are pretty standard, yellow with a red stigma. It is named for Victor Turecek, an American Cactus Collector.
The one above was a Home Depot find, it was almost black when I got it. Now it's faded slightly to a pleasing plum color. So far it hasn't flowered.
