Pediocactus peeblesianus ssp. fickeisenii

Pediocactus peeblesianus ssp. fickeisenii is a very rare cacti found only in a few scattered populations in northern Arizona. It is generally globular, sometimes solitary, sometimes clustering, and rarely exceeds 2 inches in diameter. It's early spring flowers are yellow to yellowish green.
When I first saw a picture of one of these I knew I had to have one! So I bought 2 from Miles2go. I love the soft little spines, it's a pettable cacti but you have to be carefull. The spines break off easily. Both my grafted specimens show signs they'll offset this season. I can't wait to see a little clump flower.
Update July 5th 2006, we got a flower! Another update late September 2006. Both plants have produced small offsets and I decided to take one and try to root it. Wish me luck :-)
