Pilosocereus chrysacanthus
"Golden Old Man Cactus"

Found in several areas of Mexico, Pilosocereus chrysacanthus is a golden spined, golden haired columnar with branches 3 inches thick and up to 15 feet high. Unlike some Pilosocereus, pictures I've seen of this plant show it branching from the sides of the stems as well as the base. The golden spines darken and fall off with age. The pink flowers form from a cephalium on one side of the stem near the top and the resulting purple fruits are edible.
Another Home Depot find, I am going to try one of these in the garden this year.
