Rebutia aranacea 'candiae'

My Rebutia candiae

Native to Bolivia and Argentina, Rebutia aranacea 'candiae' is a medium sized clustering globular cactus. This one has a body that is almost black, the main head is about 2 inches around. The coppery gold spines and brilliant yellow/orange flowers create a stunning contrast.
I love purple, brown and black bodied cacti. When I saw this clump at Miles2Go, I was tempted to buy two of them. But with all those offsets I opted for one. It's since been repotted and I've taken about 8 offsets from the bottom leaving the top row alone. They're now rooting nicely. Unfortunately I put this one out where it got afternoon sun one day and one side of the body got burned. It's now in the shade. Hopefully the main head will grow some more and the damaged portion will roll under it.
