Thelocactus rinconensis

From the states of Coahuila and Nuevo León, Mexico, Thelocactus rinconensis is another solitary globular Thelo to 3 inches high and 8 inches across. I love the shape of the ribs. Its spines are very long, straight and lethal and it's reported that flowers can be white or pink. I guess I've got a white one.
I got this one from Miles2go and I'm considering putting it in the garden if it can get that big. It only flowered once and I was lucky to get this good a shot. The center picture was donated by Geoff, a fellow Davesgarden.com gardening forums member. Thanks Geoff, it sure is a beauty! :-) Click HERE for a gallery of more of Geoffs pictures. The last picture is one I took of a healthy full grown old timer at the Tucson Botanical Gardens.
