Turbinicarpus viereckii

A Turbinicarpus viereckii in my collection

Native to a small area near the town of Jaumave, Tamaulipas state, Mexico, Turbinicarpus viereckii is a small solitary or clumping cactus that rarely exceeds two inches in diameter. That means this one is full grown at just about that size. In fact I pulled off half a dozen spent flower buds from the plant before I took this picture, so I know it's mature. I hope for a show next spring. The flowers are magenta in color.
Another Bachs find labled Gymnocactus viereckii. I like both the look of and the spination of the plant. I know the flowers will be a plus too.
Update September 23rd, 2007. Guess I won't have to wait till spring after all, here's some Autumn flowers.
