Aloe aristata

Found in several states and provinces of South Africa, Aloe aristata is a beautifully textured small clumping succulent. The dark green leaves are covered with raised white bumps and edged with white harmless teeth. As the leaves grow they develop a central ridge down the back. Rosettes get to be about 6 inches across and produce numerous offsets over time. One of mine in the garden actually produced some arial offsets from the flower stalk. The stalk reaches a height of only 30 inches in mature specimens and carries reddish orange flowers in late spring.
I have several of these including the one below in the garden. The rest are potted. I tried, but was unsuccessfull in rooting the arial offsets, a couple normal offsets are doing just fine.
