Aloe zanzabarica

From the Socatra Archipelago, Aloe zanzibarica is a clumping dwarf aloe that forms low branchless trunks that when grown well don't lose their lower leaves real fast. The tallest I've seen these get, at least in my own garden is 8 to 10 inches. The plant has short triangular toothed leaves that are a yellowish green. It turns an attractive reddish brown in winter. I've never seen flowers so can't describe them.
I've planted one of these in the garden and it's done OK, forming a little patch. But it gets hurt in the winter and loses a lot of it's lower leaves which gets to be unsightly. I think the plant is best potted and greenhoused over winter.
