Faucaria tigrina
"Tiger Jaws"

Native to South Africa, Faucaria tigrina is a clumping, rosette shaped succulent to 4 inches across. The serrated leaf edges give the plant the look of open jaws, hence the common name. It is probably the most common species in cultivation. Yellow flowers 2 inches across appear in late fall and winter, followed by a segmented seed pod.
I've grown these in pots for years and usually lose some to rot over the winter. For some reason I've never gotten flowers. Incredibly though, I have an F. felina thats done well in the garden for two years now, so this year I planted an F. tigrina right next to it. We'll see how it does. One potfull deciced to flower in December.
