Kalanchoe fedtschenkoi variegata

    From Madagascar, Kalanchoe
fedtschenkoi is a branching succulent sub shrub to 15 inches tall. The normal form has a purple tinge to it
lending it the common name "Lavender Scallops", also alluding to the scallop edged leaves. The variegated form
has green and cream colored leaves with pink margins when grown in good light. It is another variety of Kalanchoe that can
produce plantlets along the leaf edges.
Picked up a pot of this at Home Depot and it grew very leggy in the greenhouse over winter. It also lost it's variegation. So I took a bunch of cuttings and rooted them. They didn't do much better but all the cuttings I potted bloomed in January. I'm not sure if this is the kind of Kalanchoe that dies after blooming. I also threw a big chunk of it on the ground under a tree in my backyard. It seems to be winter hardy here and is gettting enough light to maintain it's varegation. Hopefully it will grow into a nice patch I can take cuttings from.
