Orbea verrucosa

Orbea verrucosa in bloom

Native to the Western & Eastern Cape Provinces of South Africa, Orbea verrucosa is very similar in appearance to Orbea variegata both in stem and flower. The stems howhever are somewhat thinner and the flower only about half the size of O. variegata. As with O. variegata the stems can be mottled with purple if grown in strong light.
I really have no idea where I got this plant but it has faithfully grown and flowered for me. It's been somewhat easy to grow but seems to like a little more water than the rest of my Stapeliads. Occasionally I have to give it a good soak from below to keep the stems fleshed out. I was growing it in a little too much shade when it first flowered for me in June (first pic), but it now gets a few hours of morning sun. The color is much better
