Senecio scaposus

A Senecio scaposus in my collection

From South Africa, Senecio scaposus is an interesting plant with cylindrical leaves that seem to be clothed in silk. As the leaves age the covering ruptures exposing the dull green leaves underneath. In time the plant produces clumps of tall stems with the older dead leaves hanging down. Kind of looks like a palm tree that needs a trim.
This plant did well through the winter in my greenhouse and grew quickly in spring. I unfortunately lost it to rot when our monsoon season arrived.
